Favour

Favour, 11 years old, comes from a loving family, living with both her parents and 4 siblings. As the youngest in her family, she cherishes the support and care provided by her loved ones. Favour’s enthusiasm for education is remarkable but difficult situations prevent her from attending school regularly. However, with a sponsorship through our program, Favour will have the opportunity to join one of our focus schools, nurturing her bright academic potential.

Favour aspires to become a medical doctor.  This inspiration comes from seeing her parents battle different medical conditions. She wants to be able to offer a helping hand to anyone ailing. Her favorite subjects in school are math and science, which are crucial for a successful career in medicine. Outside of school, Favour loves music and she also wants to become a music writer.

Sponsoring Favour will not only transform her life but will also create a lasting impact on her entire family. By providing support, her educational journey can continue, giving her the opportunity to fulfill her dreams of becoming a doctor.

Reagan

In the midst of challenging circumstances, Reagan, a bright and determined 12 year old student, eagerly awaits the opportunity to transform his life through education. Having patiently waited for over a year on our website, it is crucial that Reagan finds a sponsor soon to ensure he doesn’t miss out on the chance to fulfill his educational aspirations.

Reagan’s love for studying shines through his dedication and passion for education. Despite the obstacles he faces, he yearns to be in school, eager to expand his knowledge and skills. Math is his favorite subject, where he excels and finds joy in unraveling its complexities. With his curious mind and thirst for learning, Reagan has the potential to thrive academically and make a meaningful impact in his future.

Outside of school, Reagan’s passion and talent in football sets him apart. He finds solace and joy on the field, playing with his friends both at school and in his community. Through football, he learns valuable life lessons such as discipline, resilience, and the importance of sportsmanship and teamwork.

By sponsoring Reagan, a sponsor would empower him to overcome the financial barriers that currently hold him back. Education is not only an opportunity for Reagan to thrive academically but also a pathway to a better life for his entire family.

James, the aspiring IT guru

My name is James, Growing up in loving family with parents, siblings. However, our family faced significant financial instability, which impacted my education. During my early years, I attended a school where I frequently faced the threat of being sent home due to unpaid school fees. I received the NRCF scholarship, which changed my life. This scholarship became a life-changing opportunity for me, opening doors that had previously seemed closed.

With the support of Ngong Road Children’s Foundation, I enrolled at Jagiet Academy, where I completed my primary education. This was a significant milestone for me, as it marked the completion of my foundational education and provided me with a solid educational background. After graduating from primary school, I was able to continue my education at Hospital Hill High School.

High school experiences enriched diverse interactions with people from various backgrounds. This exposure broadened my perspective and enriched my understanding of the world around me. I dedicated myself to my studies, and successfully graduated from high school. This achievement allowed me to realize a long-held dream of mine – the opportunity to pursue higher education at one of Kenya’s prestigious universities.

Currently, I am actively engaged in learning computer packages at NRCF lab. Acquiring essential computer skills, I believe will greatly benefit my life in various aspects. Additionally, I had the incredible opportunity to participate in the introductory program of the DirectEd bootcamp. This program involved an examination, and I am proud to share that I achieved a Distinction grade. As a result, I qualified to join the main bootcamp, where I received an access scholarship. This scholarship provided me with a laptop, which has been instrumental in my learning journey during the bootcamp. A wifi device provided ensured uninterrupted internet access, allowing full immersion in online resources and coursework from home, ensuring seamless learning experience.

Taking part in the DirectEd bootcamp has been an enriching experience for me. It has allowed me to delve deeper into various computer languages, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and Python. Improved skills will enhance my confidence and proficiency in technology careers to impact my future endeavor. I am extremely grateful for the support and opportunities provided by NRCF and DirectEd bootcamp. These experiences have been transformative, equipping me with the knowledge, resources, and skills necessary to pursue my aspirations in the field of Information Technology.

My ultimate goal is to join Kenyatta University to take a degree course in Information Technology. With a deep passion for technology, I aspire to work for leading tech companies such as Google or Microsoft as a software developer. Technology can transform culture, and I am determined to use it for positive change, especially considering the challenging circumstances of my upbringing in a financially disadvanteged family.

I am incredibly grateful for the opportunities and life-changing moments that the NRCF sponsorship has provided me. The experience has been a turning point in my life, offering transformative experiences and opening doors. I am grateful for it.

Transformative Story of Fammy

My name is Fammy. I was raised by my aunt It was tough and I could barely share my emotion which forced me to move in with my aunt whom I was open with and could relate to girls-related problems considering I was almost in my teenage years.

I initially learned about the program from a family acquaintance who also happens to be a board member of the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation (NRCF). My aunt made an application to the program, passed an interview, and I was admitted. I got to join one of the program’s focus schools and sat for my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) in 2014.

In 2015, I joined a national-level girls’ high school in Narok County. I studied there for four years, after which I sat for my national examinations. Achieving commendable grades brought joy and accomplishment, as it allowed me to pursue their chosen career at their chosen university. Completed NRCF certificate course in Computer packages before university career. In September 2019, I proceeded to join Kabarak University in Nakuru County to take a Bachelor’s Degree in the field of Mass Communication. I saw the university as a place of growth and learning, providing me with valuable opportunities.

During my 3rd year of university, I gained experience at a reputable news agency through attachment. This experience allowed me to interact with different individuals, gain valuable skills, and develop my professional portfolio. I completed my 4-year course in April and I am awaiting graduation which will take place in December. Recently joined NRCF’s TechMates program, focusing on Digital Marketing to enhance skills and increase employability chances.

I am grateful to the NRCF program for the support they have given me, especially in my studies. I have been able to benefit from quality education and now that I am about to graduate, I am honored to have been part of this program. Thank you for helping me transform my life.

The Inspiring Story of Hillary

My name is Hillary. I have distinct recollections of my time residing with my parents and siblings. During my childhood, my mother’s schedule was quite occupied with tending to my younger siblings. As a result, one day when she was away from home, I took the opportunity to venture around the neighborhood.

I encountered a group of friends playing at a school compound, and I decided to join them. Later, I learned that Ngong Road Children’s Foundation was holding their Saturday program at that time in this location.

I persisted in returning until I was fortunate enough to secure an interview. I passed the interview and joined the program. Since then, I have achieved a lot academically and in other areas. I’ve earned awards for academics and led camps between 2017 and 2019, showcasing both scholastic excellence and leadership skills.

I did well in my Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), and I joined a provincial-level boys’ high school. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, I completed high school a year later than I was supposed to.

I joined Moi University to pursue a course in Social Work. Driven by sincere passion, I’ve chosen this course to optimize conditions for others’ success, reflecting my genuine commitment.

Before joining Moi University, I was trained as a Youth Peer Provider (YPP) by the program, and I have since been facilitating Sexual Reproductive Health talks amongst my peers and younger students in the program. As the chairperson of the YPP group, I find fulfillment in actively promoting awareness, particularly among teenagers.

Currently on an internship at Ngong Road Children’s Foundation under the Secondary Department. I feel fulfilled because I am not only putting into practice what I am learning in school, but I am also giving back to the NRCF community. I aspire to complete my degree and hopefully take a master’s, as I also want to become a lecturer.

The NRCF program has had a profoundly positive impact on my life by providing me with quality education, for which I am truly grateful.

Miracle’s Educational Journey and Future Aspirations

My name is Miracle. My mother, younger brother, and I reside in Nairobi. I joined the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation program in fifth grade. It was a turning point in my life. The program provided me with an opportunity to excel academically and pursue my dreams.

It was at the program that I joined one of their focus primary schools, which gave me a sense of purpose. I felt inspired and motivated to become a better version of myself. I was a hardworking student, and my hard work and dedication paid off when I sat for the Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE) and performed above average.

I knew that I wanted to continue my education and pursue my dream of becoming a surgeon. My KCPE performance secured me a slot at a girls boarding school in Embu County, where I am currently studying. I am determined to excel academically, and I have joined the environmental club to learn more about nature and how to take care of the environment. My dream is to get an A and join Moi University to study medicine. I want to become a surgeon and make a difference in people’s lives. I believe that education is the key to success, and I am willing to work hard to achieve my goals.

I also want to travel and invest in medical facilities. I want to help people who cannot afford medical care and make a difference in their lives. I believe that I can achieve my dreams, and I will make sure I make that dream come true.

My journey has not been easy, but I am grateful for the opportunities that the Ngong Road Children’s Foundation program has provided me. It has given me purpose and optimism, and I am determined to make the most of it. I want to inspire other children who are facing similar challenges to believe in themselves and work hard towards achieving their dreams.
