Supportive Community
The key to our program’s success has been our work to provide a supportive community for our children. We achieve this through:
- Case Worker Support. The program’s relationship with each child is managed by a case worker who touches base with each child at least weekly on Saturdays and who visits their home twice a year and school annually. Learn more
- Saturday Program. Each week we hold the Saturday Program, consisting of fun activities surrounding a wholesome meal. Learn more
- Camp. Camp is a chance for the children to get out of their setting and to spend time out of the slums and in a healthy, stimulating environment focused on learning and fun. Learn more
- Library. Today, our library features almost 1,400 volumes of children’s literature and it’s available to children at any time our office is open, including Saturdays. Learn more
- Computer Lab. In 2011 we launched a computer lab to enhance our student’s understanding of keyboarding skills, basic software packages and use of the internet. Learn more
- Mentorship program. For students in grades 10 and higher, our mentorship program is designed to pair each student with a local Kenyan who can introduce the child to middle class life in an intact family situation. Learn more
