Daudi is the last born in a family of four. The child and the mother comes from Kabiria area which is densely populated and full of activities. Daudi lives with his mother who is not employed and therefore does casual work in the neighborhood so as to make a living and therefore be able to cater for the family. She is the sole bread winner of the family and has to work hard for her family. She mostly washes people’s clothes to make a living and which in most cases is not enough to fully cater for the family needs.
The family lives in a double room house that is made of iron sheets and timber. They have electricity at home and therefore the child is able to conduct his studies even at night even at night without a problem. They have no running tap water at home and therefore, they get to fetch water from the nearest water vendors at ksh.10 per twenty liters per jerican. The shares a bed with his mother each night. Their house is not self-contained and therefore they get to share washrooms with their neighbors. The family is therefore managing and therefore doing well with hope that things will be okay in the coming days.
Daudi has been a successful student so far in our program. He recently lost his sponsor and hopes to find a new one soon.
