Joy

Joy Bella is a brilliant young girl in Bignet School. When she joins the program she will join Jagiet Academy which is one of our focus schools. Joy lives with both her father, mother and two younger brothers, Patrick and Nimrod.
Bella loves being in school as well as studying. Her father is a casual laborer in the “Juakali “ sector. The amount of Income he gets is meager to keep Joy Bella in school as well as provide all other basic needs for the family, due to this Bella is out of school for long periods due to school fee arrears. Her mother is also not permanently employed, she also does not own any kind of business. Casual Jobs are hard to come by, especially after the covid 19 period and the rise in living standards. Hence it has been so difficult for the family to cope. However, they have no other option but to keep their faith.
They live in a single room made from concrete and timber, it is therefore divided into two by a curtain to serve as a living room, bedroom, and kitchen. The front part serves as the living room and kitchen where they keep their kitchen utensils as well as cook from there. Behind the curtains is the only bed in the house where the parents and the younger brother sleep, while Bella and the other brother sleep on a mattress that is spread on the floor for the night. The single room contains plastic chairs and a table.
The house is connected to electricity which is paid through a meter Number. Hence she is able to do her assignments and evening studies. When they are fortunate enough to get meals they use the new “M” gas founded by Safaricom to make their meals. The rental plot they live in is fitted with two toilets and two bathrooms which they have to share with 10 other families living in the same plot.
Joy Bella is a good writer and artist. Her favorite subjects are Mathematics and Creative arts, She loves when her mother makes her favorite meal ( “Ugali “and Fried Eggs ). When she is of age she would love to be a Dental Doctor, “ I wish to treat those in pain and help them get better”. She said.
