Board Member
Amy Johnson brings deep experience in financial services operations, accounting, auditing and internal control. A sponsor and volunteer since 2006, she has helped build the organization’s financial infrastructure and processes in both the United States and Kenya – supporting rigorous stewardship of donor funds and clear, accountable reporting. Outside of Friends of Ngong Road, Amy serves as a trustee for Parnassus Funds and a board member for the Federal Home Loan Bank of Des Moines.
Responsibilities at FoNR:
Amy is the Board Vice Chair and Chair of the Nominating & Governance Committee, helping build strong governance, scalable processes, and sound internal controls that protect and maximize the impact of every donation.
Why I am involved with FoNR:
My husband and I first became involved by sponsoring students because we believed education can change a life—and we’ve seen that impact firsthand. I’m also energized by the extraordinary talent in Nairobi and the way the staff show up every day to support students not only with education, but with the guidance, care, and structure that help young people thrive. Contributing my experience to that work is deeply meaningful.
