Caren

Caren is an active and sharp girl, she has been attending school at Kilimani Primary School. She lives with her Mother and a younger sibling, the mother works as a casual laborer, and sometimes she gets an opportunity to help a tailor but the opportunities are not easy to come by, hence she has to check out for any other casual jobs which however are also not promised.
With this being their situation life has been really hard, which Inturn affects Caren’s studies since the mother is unable to cater for her school fees and provide food, rent, and other needs. The house they live in is a single room that’s made from old timber and rusty iron sheets. The inside is divided into two by a curtain at the center, hence the room serves as a living room and kitchen on one side and a bedroom on the other side .
The room is furnished with an old couch where Caren sleeps while the mother and the sibling sleep on the bed. The room is also furnished with a table and a drawer, the house is not self-contained thus both the toilet and bathroom are outside, they share the toilet and bathroom with five other neighbors.
The levels of hygiene are not maintained causing a threat to their health, however, they can’t change anything at the moment while all they can do now is live up to the situation with the hope that with time things will change for the better.
Caren is not a dull girl, she is active in sports, and she loves playing ball games and skipping rope. Her favorite food is Chicken and chips. She is also a lover of books; her best subjects are English and Christian Religious Education. After she successfully completes her studies she would love to be a Medical Doctor.
