Pentair Foundation joins us in transforming lives!

Friends of Ngong Road is pleased to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Pentair Foundation. “The generous grant from the Pentair Foundation will allow us to ensure all children in our program have access to education, safety and well-being services, and a supportive community. It will help children with so many barriers to education gain access to the tools and resources to transform their lives through education,” says Lacey Kraft, Development Director.

Partnership with Newcomb Institute

New to camp last summer was a partnership with the Newcomb Institute of Tulane University. Sally Kenney of the Newcomb Institute helped launch the program where students studied Women and Social Development in Kenya prior to traveling. Once they arrived, days were filled with meeting the Friends of Ngong Road staff, children, and families, seeing the animals, learning more about Kenya, and of course, camp! The Tulane students each prepared lessons that they taught to students at camp and participated in the daily activities of camp. Read more about the partnership in the Newcomb newsletter.

Two Years in Nairobi

Luther Alumni Magazine featured our very own Michael and Leah Switzer! Read more about their two years in Kenya where Michael helped start Karibu Loo, the portable sanitation company that supports the charitable mission to help educate kids. “The board of Friends of Ngong Road believes that with the addition of earned income in Nairobi, Kenya through Karibu Loo, our mission of educating some of the world’s poorest children will become much more sustainable.”

Portable Sanitation Association International Supports Karibu Loo

Friends of Ngong Road and Karibu Loo are the grateful recipients of the Portable Sanitation Association International’s World Sanitation Day generosity! “The PSAI has long been concerned about global issues. It’s natural for us to support an organization like Friends of Ngong Road that is using portable sanitation as a means to address the need for sanitation alternatives in one of the world’s busiest cities,” says Karleen Kos, Executive Director for the PSAI. “On World Portable Sanitation Day we celebrate the benefits of the resources our industry provides. By sharing the proceeds of WPSD sales with a worthy organization like FoNR, we are helping young people receive an education and providing their community with a valuable sanitation alternative.” Thank you PSAI!
