Tom Gleason has decided to leave the Friends of Ngong Road Board effective June 1. Tom joined the board in 2008 and has been an incredibly valuable member of the board. He was responsible for setting up our operations and securing a grant from Salesforce.com to house all of our data in both the U.S. and Kenya. This included training the board and the Kenyan staff on how to use this new tool.
Tom was also instrumental in setting up the computer lab in our Nairobi office and making sure we have a good linkage between the U.S. and Kenya – no small feat!
In 2008 Tom created our camp program and has been its director since then. The camp program has become one of the most important parts of the FoNR program.
Tom will continue many of his operational duties and will remain the Director of the Camp Program.
While there is no way we can adequately thank Tom for all his service, the FoNR Board has decided to create the Gleason Camp Endowment Fund in Tom’s name. Target is $200,000, of which over $20,000 has already been raised. A gift of $1,000 endows a campership in perpetuity. Please consider endowing a student’s camp experience by sending us a note at info@ngongroad.org.
