Bernard entered the program in 2010. His sponsor recently couldn’t help support his education because of COVID. Bernard is excited to have another sponsor see him through his college experience. Bernard graduated from Parklands Boys High School in 2019. He then enrolled in the National Industrial Training Authority and is completing his Automotive Engineering Certificate. Once he graduates, he wants to be a mechanic. He has been thankful for all the opportunities given to him through the program and is excited to be an example for his community that it is possible to change your life for the better. When he’s not in school, he loves playing soccer. Bernard’s family lives in the Ng’ando slum double room, which serves as the sitting, cooking, and bedroom. They have electricity but have to buy water. He shares a bed with his younger brother while his younger sister sleeps on a couch.
