
Monica Waithera is 21 years old. Her sponsor recently abjured. She joined the program on 4/15/2009. She went to Kibiru girl’s secondary school where she completed high school education and scored a mean grade of C- in the Kenya Certificate of Secondary Education.
Monica lives with her mother and brother in a one-roomed iron sheet house in Kabiria. The mother makes and sells beaded items and also does launders clothes for an income. They use a charcoal or kerosene stove for cooking their meals. The family buys water for domestic use and share a pit latrine and bathroom with other tenants
Monica is currently a second-year student pursuing a three-year diploma course in Mass communication at East Africa . She aspires to work in a news firm as a news anchor in the future. While in the program she has benefited from basic computer applications, life skills training, career development and sexual reproductive health programs.
Monica enjoys swimming, traveling, listening to music and reading novels. She is grateful for the opportunity that Ngong Road Children Foundation has accorded her so far. She looks forward to transforming her life and that of her family.
