Esther's Story:
My name is Esther Wangari, I am 16 years old and am in Form 3 (junior in high school). I live in Ngando Village (in the Dagoretti slum of Nairobi). I have one brother and I live with my beloved mum and grandmother.
I am healthy and have very supportive friends. I really thanks God for making me join Ngong Road Children Association because I have learnt a lot of valuable things which are very benefiting to me in my life.
In my daily living I like to learn more because if can’t learn, what else will I do? What I believe in is that in education there is power and I must strive to achieve my goals.
I like to be corrected when I go wrong and this makes me feel good and it also make me feel the one who is correcting me loves me and wants me to have a bright future. I like being corrected so much that at times I just do something wrong which irritates my mother and makes her correct me.
When I grow up I would like to be an airhostess. This career will make me have to experience more and get to know other countries better. I would also like to be a dentist because I like to see people smiling with the beautiful teeth. In Kenya there are very few dentists so I will be so great help to my country.
I don’t like to follow my friends in what they are doing so I try to go a different way and see whether they can follow me if I can’t I consider them as enemies. I like involving myself in group discussions because this helps me to learn what I didn’t know.
