Board of Directors

Friends of Ngong Road is governed by a volunteer board of directors.  They meet at least 10 times each year as a full board and through standing and ad hoc committees as necessary.  Responsibilities include:

 

  • Assure that affairs of FoNR are conducted in a fiscally responsible manner, and that legal and compliance requirements are met.
  • Actively participate in the strategic planning, development and recruitment activities of the organization.
  • Monitor and evaluate programs, outcomes, impact and performance of FoNR.

The FoNR board is a working board, with each board member having his or her own responsibilities in the U. S. and Kenya. All travel and many expenses are borne by the individual board members.

  • Tom Gleason: Operations and Camp Leader (board member since 2007)
     
  • Amy Johnson: Treasurer and Finance (board member since 2009)
     
  • Keith Kale, Marketing and Planning (founding board member, 2006)
     
  • Susan Plimpton: Education, Strategic Partnerships (board member since 2010)
     
  • Andy Walz: Technology and Travel (board member since 2012) - not pictured
