Who We Are

Friends of Ngong Road and Ngong Road Children Association is a partnership of volunteers in the U.S. and Kenya with a deep belief in the value of education and the hope it can bring to young lives.  Volunteers in the U.S. from Friends of Ngong Road focus on fund-raising and sponsor recruitment.  The volunteers and staff from Ngong Road Children Association in Nairobi, most of whom have lived in or near the impoverished communities, are committed to helping children whose lives are affected by HIV/AIDS.

In Kenya, efforts are supervised by the Board of Ngong Road Children Association.  Led by the Executive Director, Peter Ndungu, the Ngong Road Children Association Board provides the professional oversight and guidance necessary to ensure the funds are effectively and wisely spent.  The Board follows three important principles with every child brought into the program:

1.  Seek to find living family members, neighbors or friends who will nurture the child

2.  Enroll the child in an appropriate school once a sponsor has been identified

3.  Monitor and evaluate the children's progress and well-being through monthly visits to the families
