| How Children Are Selected

| | - Before adding a child to the program, the team in Kenya begins an assessment process. All children in the program have at least one parent affected by HIV/AIDS. (About 10% of the children in the program are HIV positive themselves).
- We focus on selecting children in a stable home situation, ideally living with relatives. We monitor the home situation to ensure the child's success and will work with guardians to make changes we believe are necessary.
- We concentrate our efforts in the impoverished Dagoretti "villages" of Nairobi where we can best monitor and control the Program.
- Once accepted, children and their guardians are asked to sign an Agreement Form which outlines their responsibilities-getting the child to the school, ensuring medical issues are addressed and notifying our office of any changes in the child's situation.
- The child is then placed on a waiting list, some of whom you can see in the "Children Needing Sponsors" section of this site. We currently have over 300 children on the waiting list beyond those you see here.
